Repair of 100-foot bridge in West Springfield key to linking biking, hiking paths

WEST SPRINGFIELD — A decade after state officials closed a wooden bridge in the Bear Hole conservation area, town officials are asking for $500,000 to help reopen it.

“It’s not a huge project. It’s only 100 feet to reopen the bridge. It’s huge in terms of its impact,” said West Springfield Natural Resources Planner Mark Noonan.
