Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open on Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with items for sale at bargain prices.

Holiday Bazaar

Chicopee – Faith United Methodist, 191 Montcalm St., will hold their holiday bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featuring cookies, pies, soups, decorations and more.

Holly Fair

Wilbraham – Wilbraham United Church, 500 Main St., will hold their 14th annual holly fair on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Featuring over 60 vendors from all over New England selling crafts, home décor, original art, jewelry, beauty care, woodworking, pet goods, kids items and much more.

Celtic Worship

Longmeadow – St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 335 Longmeadow St., next Celtic Worship will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. The service will incorporate hymns, prayers, candle lights, meditation, periods of silent reflection and music by the Meadow Flutes, Nancy Miller, Andrea Taupier, Laura Wilkins and Lynn Wilson. The Celtic worship services are held the second Saturday of each month through March. The program is free and open to the public.

Frozen Polish food sale

Springfield – Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St. will hold a frozen Polish food sale featuring pierogi (cabbage, potato & cheese, sweet cheese, blueberry), golabki and kapusta on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon in the church hall. All are welcome to come and purchase. There will also be a Silent Auction/Christmas Basket Raffle by Youth of the Parish. The Rosary Sodality is selling Lottery Calendars for month of Dec. at $20 which make good Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers after Mass or by calling Jean Duperre 413-592-1965, or Julie Chmura 413-543-4750.

Recital Chorus annual holiday concert

Shelburne Falls – A 29th annual holiday concert of vocal and choral music will be presented by the Recital Chorus, directed by Margery Heins, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, 17 Severance St. The chorus is made up of college and community singers who will present traditional carols and seasonal music, rounds, and folk songs, as well as works from the 16th century to the present. The program is free, donations (cash or check) will be received at the door to benefit the Hilltown Churches and GCC Food Pantries.

Patriots raffle fundraiser

Granby – Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St., is doing a Patriots Raffle to the Jan. 5 game against the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m. The winner will receive two 50 Yard Line Seats and free access to the Brand New GP Atrium with free food and free non-alcoholic beverages (before, during and after the game), as well as the opportunity to meet a former Patriots Player, Pat the Patriot & The Patriot Cheerleaders. Raffle tickets are $20 and are available at our Parish Office 413-467-9821 and after all weekend Masses. Drawing is Dec. 23. All raffle profits will be used to help pay the church oil and snow removal bills this winter.

Church upcoming events

Holyoke – Rebekah’s Closet is an Outreach Mission of the United Congregational Church of Holyoke which supports young families with clothing and supplies for their infants and toddlers. Now through Dec. 23, Rebekah’s Closet is seeking donations of new children’s board books or toys for children from ages birth through age 5. Donations may be dropped off at the Church Office weekdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., pickups may be arranged by calling 413-532-1483 to schedule a pickup time.

Blue Christmas service

Agawam – Feeding Hills Congregational Church invites the community to a Blue Christmas on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Whatever the reason you’re struggling, all are welcome to join in as we seek out hope and peace in a supportive worship service. Come as you are, to join in for prayer, music, scripture and a special tree ceremony and reflection. The church is located at 21 North Westfield St., in the Feeding Hills section.

Upcoming Dec. events

Holyoke – St. Paul Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St., presents the following Dec. events. On Sunday, Dec. 22, it’s their Christmas Pageant at 10 a.m. All are welcome. Everyone is invited to the “Birthday of Christ the Child celebration following the program, where the 2024 Christmas Star ornament will be distributed. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, they will hold a Christmas Candle Service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Joel Martinez. On Sunday, Dec. 29, the church will hold their Christmas Lessons & Carols Service at 10 a.m.

Church events

Springfield – South Congregational Church, an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in downtown Springfield, invites everyone to its regular worship services, Sundays at 10 a.m. in person at 45 Maple Street in Springfield or on Zoom. The church will hold their Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome. The Bible Study group on Zoom will now take place on Mondays at 7 p.m. (use the Zoom worship link) — whether you are new to bible study or have a lifetime of experience, you are welcome. Other programs include regular knitting and quilting circles as well as an upcoming Lenten Book Group. In addition to church services and events, South is particularly engaged in the downtown community, and many public programs are offered in their spaces. Free Channukah breakfast

Longmeadow – Congregation B’nai Torah will hold their annual free Channukah breakfast, on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 9 a.m., at Congregation B’nai Torah, 2 Eunice Drive, Longmeadow. There will be latkes and their usual tasty breakfast served with joy, and entertainment. For more information, please call their office at 413-567-0036.

Wilbraham – Wilbraham United Church at 500 Main St., welcomes the community to Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday of every month communion is served with bread and grape juice. Following all Sunday services, there is a Friendship gathering in the Fellowship Hall. Coffee, and other refreshments are served and all are welcomed. Wilbraham United is a merged congregation of the Congregational and Methodist Societies. They celebrate as both a congregation that recognizes the traditions and values of both the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist denominations. Wilbraham United Church is a place where someone from any walk of life can feel comfortable. They are committed to service and sharing their space for the good of the community and to the glory of God. The church is especially welcoming to children, who are gladly received in the worship service. There are church school classes for children who wish to attend for ages 3 through 13 during the worship service time. The church is handicapped accessible with a large parking lot in the rear. Holyoke – St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 34 Jarvis Ave., offers the weekly programs. Sunday’s: 9:30 a.m., worship and Sunday school, worship Facebook live; Monday’s: 10:30 a.m., Bible Study at church; Tuesday’s: 6 to 8 p.m., crafts group at church; Wednesday’s: 10:30 a.m., prayers with Pastor, Facebook live; Thursday’s: 7 p.m., worship at church. All are welcome.

Sunday services

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., invites the community to Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday of every month communion is served. Following all Sunday services, there is a friendship gathering in the church hall. The church is handicap accessible with a large parking lot. The church live stream’s on YouTube each week. Additional adoration times

Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. will offer weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays between noon and 5:30 p.m. The Holy Mass takes place at 6 p.m. Lawn signs are available for Agawam residents announcing the Year of the Eucharist. Contact the parish office to obtain one, 413-786-8105, ext. 101.

Free weekly Veterans lunch

Holyoke – Community Roots Neighborhood Services offers a free hot lunch for Veterans and their adult immediate family (Parents or spouse). The lunches are every Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Questions? Email Gina Nelson at crnsholyoke@gmail.com.
