BALTIMORE — On a night when they had to cobble together nine innings from their pitching staff in a bullpen game, the Red Sox needed a big night out of their offense. As unlikely as that seemed with ace Corbin Burnes on the mound for the Orioles, the bats came alive — and then some — in a slugfest at Camden Yards.
The Red Sox tagged Burnes for eight runs in 10 hits in four innings and went on to overpower Baltimore, 12-10, behind four homers in a game that saw 31 combined hits between the teams. The Sox bashed their way to improving to 64-57 on the season and won their second game in eight tries against Baltimore. It was not a good night for the pitching staff, which allowed 14 hits. But the offense, behind Jarren Duran (reached base five times), Rafael Devers (three RBIs) and Masataka Yoshida (four RBIs) did enough. It was the first time the Red Sox won a game in which they surrendered 10+ runs since 2019
