Red Sox star prospect sits atop 2025 AL Rookie of the Year poll

MLB Pipeline polled front office officials to find out their top 2025 AL Rookie of the Year candidates.

Red Sox star outfield prospect Roman Anthony and Tigers right-handed pitching prospect Jackson Jobe both topped the list with 19.1% of the vote.

Red Sox shortstop/center field Kristian Campbell received the fifth highest percentage (8.5%). Yankees outfield Jasson Domínguez (17%) and Orioles corner infield prospect Coby Mayo (14.9%) polled ahead of Campbell.

Kyle Teel — who the Red Sox dealt to the White Sox in the Garrett Crochet trade — also received votes, although the site did not reveal his percentage.

MLB Pipeline explained its polling process, writing, “We asked front office officials, from general managers to members of scouting, player development and analytics departments, a vast array of questions in this year’s survey. We received responses from all 30 organizations in the hopes of providing as large a cross-section of opinion as possible.”

Anthony and Campbell are expected to begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Worcester. But the Red Sox do have some incentive for them to make the Opening Day roster.

That’s because a Rookie of the Year winner earns his team an extra draft pick if he made his team’s Opening Day roster, accrues a full season of major league service time and made two of three preseason top 100 lists (MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and ESPN.com).

Anthony — who Baseball America ranks No. 1 on its Top 100 list — finished 2024 at Worcester where he went 45-for-131 (.344) with a .463 on-base percentage, .519 slugging percentage, .983 OPS, three homers, 12 doubles, one triple, 33 runs and 20 RBIs in 35 games. The 20-year-old has a .398 on-base percentage and 15.6% walk percentage in 1,114 minor league plate appearances.

Campbell led all Red Sox minor leaguers with 55 extra-base hits (20 homers, 32 doubles and three triples) in 2024. He batted .330 with a .439 on-base percentage, .558 slugging percentage and .997 OPS in 115 games (517 plate appearances) between High-A Greenville (40 games), Double-A Portland (56 games) and Worcester (19 games).
