Red Sox pitcher joins Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan in MLB history

BOSTON — Nick Pivetta wasn’t happy with the result or his struggles in the third inning, but the Red Sox pitcher did make a little history in Boston’s 5-2 loss to the A’s on Wednesday at Fenway Park.

Pivetta struck out 10 Oakland hitters in the game, including eight in a row between the third and sixth innings. Lawrence Butler, who lined out to third broke up the run and was the only A’s hitter not to strike out in the game.
