The Red Sox wrap-up their next-to-last road trip of the season Wednesday afternoon in Arlington, Texas and their lineup for the finale has a slightly different look to it.
Trevor Story is getting the day off, and in his place at shortstop is Ceddanne Rafaela, who will also serve as the leadoff hitter. This will mark Rafaela’s fifth start at short since being promoted from Worcester late last month. During minor league stops in Portland and Worcester this year, the Red Sox mostly had him focused on playing the outfield, but with the parent club, manager Alex Cora has been unafraid to use him in the infield, too.
The remainder of the Boston lineup is fairly predictable, with an outfield of Masataka Yoshida, Adam Duvall and Alex Verdugo, Rafael Devers at his familiar spot at third base and Justin Turner at DH.

The Sox have dropped four of the first five games on the current road swing after being swept over the weekend in Toronto and splitting the first two games with the Rangers. The Red Sox may not have much for which to play, but this game is huge for the Rangers, who remain locked in a tight battle with a number of clubs for both the AL West crown or a wild card spot.
Boston, meanwhile, needs to win six of its final 10 games to avoid finishing the 2023 season with a losing record.
