Red Sox give up lead twice in extras, fall to Rockies in walk-off fashion

The Red Sox had the lead twice during extra innings on Monday and lost it twice, the second time for good.

Boston fell to the Colorado Rockies, 9-8, in 12 innings at Coors Field in Denver. Ezequiel Tovar brought the winning run in with a bases loaded line drive into right field to earn the walk-off victory for the Rockies on the second pitch thrown by righty Chase Anderson. The loss extended the Sox’ losing streak to four — and marked five blown saves in that span by a battered bullpen that is more than short-handed in Denver.
