PWHL Boston to air on NESN: New hockey team announces broadcast partner

PWHL Boston announced a partnership with NESN Friday, with the station set to broadcast all 24 games of its inaugural season.

“We’re thrilled to add the PWHL Boston team to our content lineup,” said Matt Volk, NESN COO. “NESN is the go-to destination for New England hockey fans to enjoy men’s and women’s hockey on the collegiate and professional level so this addition is great for all of our fans.”

Boston will open its debut season Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. with a game at the Tsongas Center in Lowell and broadcast on NESN. Bridgette Proulx, who calls college hockey for WEEI and ESPN, announced on Friday she would be part of the broadcast team.

“The visibility offered across our broadcast and streaming schedule is unprecedented in women’s hockey and reinforces the growing interest in our sport,” said Stan Kasten, PWHL Advisory Board member, in a press release. “Accessibility of PWHL games throughout our inaugural season is a giant win for fans everywhere. We felt it was a priority to engage a magnitude of committed partners on a variety of consistent platforms.”

The six-team PWHL also announced a regional broadcast deal with MSG for the New York team and national broadcast deals with CBC/Radio-Canada, TSN and RDS, and Sportsnet for the three Canadian franchises. All PWHL games will also be available on the league’s YouTube channel.

New York and Toronto face off in the opening match of the PWHL’s inaugural season on Jan. 1 at 12:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast on NESN.
