The team’s bench cleared and players threw their gloves in the air, thinking that the series was over. But while the team celebrated, officials huddled together and discussed a review.
Taylor Heise assisted Jaques on the goal, but after Heise passed the puck, she slipped and collided with Boston goalie Aerin Frankel, prompting officials to review the play for goaltender interference.
Following a review, the call came back as goaltender interference. Giving Boston a lifeline.
Boston’s Alina Müller went on to score soon after off an assist from Theresa Schafzahl, extending the series to a fifth and final game that will be played on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Lowell.
“Being in the net, I didn’t know what happened other that I was pushed,” Frankel said. “After seeing the replay I was confident they’d overturn it. … I’m glad that they made the right call.”
“Once it got overturned, we had more power, speed and legs,” Müller added. (The momentum) was on our side.”
