SPRINGFIELD — With both teams coming into the Hoophall Classic with a perfect season record, neither Pope Francis or Holyoke wanted to give it up. In a double overtime nail biter, the Cardinals came up with a 77-74 win over the Purple Knights.
“Going to be a hard game, we’ve got to compete at the best level, bring energy from the start,” Pope Francis senior Ryan Vedovelli said on the mindset going into the game. “We’ve got to play our best defense because defense wins championships.”
