Police say missing Mass. man held woman, 2 kids captive for days while family searched for him

A massive days-long search effort in Springfield earlier this month drew dozens of volunteers, helicopters and even civilian drones while the missing man held a woman and her two children against her will within her apartment, according to a police report filed in Springfield District Court.

Eli Hall, 39, of Springfield, faces eight counts, including kidnapping, after his arrest on Sept. 13 — seven days after his sister initially reported her brother missing on social media. The kidnapped woman told police that Hall, who has a “history of violent offenses,” according to police, including being a registered sex offender, threatened to harm her if she told Hall’s sister about his whereabouts.
