The Newburyport Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a car involved in a crash with a bike.
Around 4:40 p.m. on Aug 20, three bicyclists were traveling in the bicycle lane on High Street when one of them was hit by a car near the intersection of Pond and High streets, police said.
As the cyclist was being tended to, the car fled the area toward Route 1, police said.
The car was described as a newer model Mini Cooper, possibly Clubman model, that was grey or green, police said. The car had been traveling west on High Street and was turning left onto Pond Street when it struck the cyclist, police said.
The car will also likely have damage on the passenger side and may have a New Hampshire registration, police said.
Police shared a photo of the car on Facebook.
The Newburyport Police are asking people and businesses in the area to check for any video on dash cameras or home security cameras that may have picked up the car before, during or after the crash.
Those with further information are asked to contact Inspector Chris McDonald at cmcdonald@newburyportpolice.com.
