SOUTHWICK — The Planning Board decided last week that the Master Plan Implementation Committee should be established as a subcommittee of the board, with the goal of it eventually becoming a permanent committee.
“Give it a year or so to operate [as a subcommittee] and see if major changes need to be made before it would be put forward [to Town Meeting] as a permanent committee,” said Planning Board member Jessica Thornton to board members during a lengthy discussion about how to set up the Master Plan Implementation Committee.
For the past two years, a group of residents, with significant public input, spent hundreds of hours serving together on the Master Plan Advisory Committee drafting “Vision 2040,” which it describes as a “blueprint” for the future of the town.
