Pedestrian seriously injured crossing street in Mass. city

A female pedestrian was seriously injured when she was hit by a car while crossing Shrewsbury Street in Worcester Monday afternoon, police said.

Worcester police went to 164 Shrewsbury St. at around 3:51 p.m. Monday. By the time police arrived, paramedics, firefighters and an off-duty police officer had begun providing medical aid to the pedestrian, according to a statement from Worcester Police. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital.

Police did not immediately provide an age for the pedestrian. WCVB-TV reported that she is 13-years-old. MassLive could not immediately reach Worcester Police for confirmation Tuesday morning.
