Oddsmakers aren’t liking the New England Patriots’ chances of bouncing back next week against the Houston Texans.
The Patriots, who are now tied for the worst record in the NFL, will host a Texans team that has one of the league’s best records at 4-1. Even with the game at home, sportsbooks have New England as a major underdog. Here are some of the opening spreads and betting odds for Week 6:
DraftKings Sportsbook: Texans -7 (-340)
FanDuel: Texans -7 (-320)
BetMGM: Texans -7 (-350)
ESPN Bet: Texans -7 (-320)
Sportsbooks are pretty consistent with listing the Texans as touchdown favorites for the Week 6 matchup at Gillette Stadium.
It should come as little surprise. The Texans are rolling behind second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud and are coming off a win against the Buffalo Bills.
The Patriots, meanwhile, have been floundering since their Week 1 win. New England has now lost four games in a row while its offense has looked largely ineffective.
Questions remain over how long Jacoby Brissett will remain the starting quarterback while rookie Drake Maye waits in the wings. Facing a strong opponent in the Texans this week, it doesn’t look like first-year coach Jerod Mayo is going to make the switch against Houston.
