Park and Recreation Commission ready to go back to CPC for pickleball court funding

SOUTHWICK — On Wednesday, the Community Preservation Committee will meet once again with the Park and Recreation Commission regarding its request for funding for new pickleball courts at Whalley Park.

In November 2024, the Park and Recreation Commission voted 3-2 to apply to the CPC for $670,000 for the construction of six courts, new lighting and a pavilion. The CPC announced in December of that year, however, that the application wasn’t complete and wouldn’t be included as an article for the warrant of the Special Town Meeting.

This time, the Park and Recreation Commission feels it is ready to go.
