‘Out of the blue’ New England Public Media receives largest gift in stations’ history

SPRINGFIELD — Walter J. Wolnik, a longtime listener of New England Public Media, was especially fond of the classical music it broadcast in the overnight hours.

So fond was he of the symphonies and concertos that he left NEPM its largest gift, not only in the broadcaster’s history but in the history of its two predecessor organizations: public television station WGBY and radio broadcaster WFCR/NEPR.
