WEST SPRINGFIELD — Deep in a well in Afghanistan, kept prisoner and tortured by the Taliban, Amran Fatih was paying the price for fighting for democracy.
The 34-year-old West Springfield man said he was beaten and tortured for two weeks before negotiators from Qatar and the U.S. freed and flew him to America in 2021.
