AMHERST – The Walpole High School softball team’s only loss off the season came against No. 5 Milton, 4-3, on April 10. Milton (18-4) was upset by No. 21 Notre Dame, of Hingham (13-8) in just their second state tournament game, 8-7. Notre Dame fell to Westfield (20-4) in the quarterfinals, 5-1.
It should come as no surprise then that the final game was decided by just one run.
