SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield home remains mired in the court system more than a year after the city deemed it unfit for habitation when police discovered a pet-hoarding, garbage-filled mess.
The owner, Rebecca Hayward, bought the house at 284 Denver St. sight unseen, foregoing an inspection after the Springfield Fire Department gave it passing grades before the final sale. This, despite a slew of electric hazards and a fuel tank wedged at the bottom of the basement stairs.
