WEST SPRINGFIELD — Gone are the days when police simply needed to serve and protect, they must serve and protect with precision, said incoming West Springfield Police Chief Jay Gearing.
Gearing was sworn in as chief in front of department members, family and residents at the West Springfield Municipal Office Building Friday after former Police Chief Paul Connor III officially retired.
