New restaurant bringing ‘à la carte’ sushi, late-night menu to Boston suburb

A new sushi restaurant is bringing omakase-style presentations, “à la carte” sushi, robatayaki specialties and more to the Boston area next week.

XOXO Sushi Bar will open in Chestnut Hill on Friday, March 8. The restaurant and bar is helmed by Chef Kegan Stritchko, who is responsible for Boston sushi destinations Uni and Fat Baby Sushi.

With a focus on modern American/Japanese cuisine, XOXO Sushi Bar boasts a contemporary izakaya experience for guests.

The inside of the restaurant will feature a 16-seat bar, vaulted ceiling with custom millwork, pebble stone mosaic walls, curated artwork and plush seating accented by warm lighting. The intention is to help guests enjoy good food in a city-like setting.

XOXO Sushi Bar’s menu comprises handrolls, izakaya-style plates, aphrodisiacs and composed sashimi dishes. Highlights include Ora King salmon sashimi, an A5 wagyu tartare and a spicy tuna temaki handroll.

Chef Stritchko will also offer two “chef’s choice” options with a traditional 16-course omakase experience. The experience comes with dry-aged fish and a sashimi moriawase served with other seafood on a platter.

The drink menu will feature a collection of sakes and Japanese whiskies as well as original cocktails like the Smoked Honeycomb, the Ginza Spritz, Matcha Julep and Hot Date.

XOXO Sushi Bar is at 1154 Boylston St.

Dinner will be served from 5-10 p.m. nightly while a late-night menu of handrolls and hot bites will be offered until 11 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and midnight Wednesday to Saturday.

Reservations are available now via Resy. For more information, people can call the restaurant at 617-505-3378 or visit go on its website. People can also follow XOXO Sushi Bar on Instagram.
