A 23-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after officials say he struck his grandmother in the head with a hammer, killing her.
Joshua Lanchester is expected to be arraigned on the murder charge on Monday. He was arrested Saturday, New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall said in a joint statement.
At around 11:41 a.m. Saturday, a medical emergency was reported at 44 Park Drive in Easton, New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Police found Cynthia Lanchester, 76, lying dead inside the home, according to the statement. Lanchester had a blunt-force trauma wound.
