
A New Bedford man faces a slew criminal charges following an early morning shooting at a Taco Bell restaurant in the city.
Shortly before 1 a.m. on Dec. 19, police responded to the Taco Bell on Coggeshall Street for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found an adult male victim with non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, the shooting unfolded from an argument begun between two female customers and suspect Pedro Javier Gonzalez Olmo, 31. Olmo reportedly assaulted both females before leaving the Taco Bell.
Police say the shooting victim had been waiting in a nearby vehicle and began making his way into the fast food restaurant. After exchanging words outside, Olmo took out a gun and shot the victim, according to police.
Olmo, who police said is a licensed gun owner, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault by means of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and improper storage.
Olmo pleaded not guilty to all charges in New Bedford District Court. He was ordered by held without bail on dangerousness.
