Certain veggie spring roll products sold in ALDI are being recalled because it could contain shrimp.
Tai Foong USA of Seattle, Washington initiated the recall for its “Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls” because the products may have shrimp even though it’s not a listed ingredient on the labels, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a statement on Oct. 8.
Customers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to shrimp or shellfish who eat the spring rolls “run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the FDA said.
The affected products were distributed only to ALDI stores nationwide and sold under the “Fusia Asian Inspirations” brand.
The spring rolls weigh 10 ounces and are identified with the UPC 4099100222258 and a best-before date of May 17, 2027, which can be found on the back panel of the retail box.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that certain cases of shrimp spring rolls may have been packaged in boxes labeled vegetable spring rolls. The cause of this error is under investigation.
No confirmed allergic reactions or illnesses related to this recall have been reported. However, customers are urged by the FDA not to eat the food and either throw it out immediately or return it to ALDI for a full refund.
No other “Fusia Asia Inspirations” products were affected by this recall, the statement notes.
