A museum with 80 “mind-bending” exhibits is opening in Boston soon.
The Museum of Illusions is slated to opened in Boston at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Discounted presale tickets are on sale now.
The Museum of Illusions was described as an experiential museum full of “mind-bending illusions and interactive exhibits” in a press release sent to MassLive earlier this year.
The museum’s exhibits range from interactive illusion rooms, mind-bending installations and puzzling images.
While the museum will feature several fan-favorite oddities such as its famous Beuchet Chair and Tilted Room, there will exhibits specific to Boston that pay homage to the city’s architecture and sports history. The museum will also house educational entertainment for people of all ages.
The first Museum of Illusions opened in Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, in 2015, according to the museum. It has described itself as the “fastest-growing” such chain in the world.
The Museum of Illusions has more than 50 locations across 25 countries and four continents. With 24 museums in the United States, the Boston museum will be the first in New England, and among one of the chain’s largest.
“This highly visible location with millions of annual visitors promises an incredible opportunity,” Rob Cooper, the CEO of LOL Entertainment — the parent company of Museum of Illusions Boston — said in the press release.
“We are excited to serve the greater Boston area by offering captivating illusions that transcend age, creating unforgettable memories in this rich and storied setting,” Cooper added.
The Museum of Illusions in Boston will take over a roughly 10,000-square-foot space. The new permanent museum location will be at Marketplace Center at 200 State St., right above LOFT where GAP used to be, and near the city’s famed Faneuil Hall.
Tickets for Museum of Illusions Boston are available online. They are $38 for adults (13 years old and older), $33 for children ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and under. All tickets purchased now through Friday, Nov. 22 will automatically receive 20% off.
Teachers who show their school ID can get into the museum for free on any Tuesday throughout the year. Discounted tickets are also available for seniors, students and military members
The Museum of Illusions Boston will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. It will also be open on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
