Wednesday night in Toronto, the Red Sox merely confirmed what had been obvious for some time: they would not be taking part in this year’s postseason.
That constitutes their longest stretch for the franchise since the Butch Hobson Era (1992-1994). If the Red Sox are going to snap that ignominious streak in 2025, they’ll have to correct some obvious flaws with the current roster.
