There was much that was attractive about Bregman when the Red Sox signed him to a three-year, $120 million deal with opt-outs earlier this month.
Bregman gave the Red Sox a righthanded bat, providing much-needed balance to a lineup that was primarily lefthanded. He also brought a record of strong production at Fenway Park (career OPS: 1,240), with a swing that results in balls being pulled in the air. And he offers defensive versatility, able to play both third base and second.
