Memorial Day 2024: What’s open and what’s closed

Memorial Day, celebrated on May 27, is a federal holiday, meaning several places will be closed in recognition of those who died while serving in the military.

To commemorate the holiday, in Massachusetts, volunteers placed tens of thousands of American Flags on Boston Common a few days before Memorial Day, WCVB reported. The event is part of a tribute to honor each person from Massachusetts who died serving in the military since the Revolutionary War.
