Medical helicopter unable to land at crash with life-threatening injuries in Mass.

A medical helicopter was unable to land at a crash site where two people riding a motorcycle were seriously injured.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a 2020 Toyota Camry was trying to make a left-hand turn onto Route 44 westbound in Raynham when it struck a 2012 Harley-Davidson, the Raynham Police Department said. The crash was about one mile west of the interchange with Route 24.

The 55-year-old driver of the motorcycle from Taunton was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was taken to Good Samaritan with critical injuries.

Two people in the car were also injured. The driver, a 74-year-old woman, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford with non-life-threatening injuries. And a 50-year-old man in the car was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton with unspecified injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries a medical helicopter was called to the scene. However, they were unable to land due to mechanical issues.

Route 44 remained closed for nearly two hours as police investigated.
