The MyCharlie website is changing at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Most of the changes will be automatic but there is at least one thing users need to do to keep their CharlieCard working.
The old website is being permanently retired, the MBTA’s website stated. It will be replaced with an updated version “that is more accessible and easier to use.”
This will allow users to register multiple cards, protect CharlieCard balances against loss, theft, or damage, quickly request replacement cards and sign up for automatic payments.
For those who already have a MyCharlie account, you’ll need to sign up for an MBTA account using the same email address you used for MyCharlie.
Your old cards will also eventually stop working.
“Recurring monthly passes through MyCharlie will be discontinued on November 15,” the website states. “Your pass will be valid for the rest of the month, but you’ll need to sign up for Auto-pay if you want to continue recurring payments after November.”
Through the new auto-pay, users will get a new card in the mail.
In the future, reduced fare cardholders will also be able to get reduced monthly passes automatically loaded onto a standard CharlieCard.
