Mayor responds as Northampton residents raise alarms about $21M Main St. redesign

The Mayor’s Office released a document on Wednesday to address the concerns of residents and business owners about the controversial Northampton’s Main Street redesign project.

Picture Main Street, a $21 million state-and-federally funded project, would redo Main Street from Elm Street east to the intersection with Market Street, reducing the amount of lanes on the road and adding wider sidewalks and bicycle lanes to each side of the street. It will also reduce the overall number of parking spots downtown by about 57.
