While playing in New England for the Patriots may no longer seem like a destination for the league’s best players, that’s not the case for everyone.
Matthew Judon loves being a Patriot. And he hopes to retire with the organization.
“I don’t ever want to leave,” Judon told WBZ-TV’s Dan Roche during a trip to a glass-blowing studio in Providence, R.I over the weekend. “I’m finding stuff like this and just making it home and trying to be more a part of the community, so I honestly never want to leave. That’s not my intent. Forever. I want to retire here. I’m very comfortable. I love it.”

Judon arrived in 2021, signing a four-year, $56 million contract as a free agent. He’s been the team’s top sack man his first two seasons, and has set new career high totals each year. He had 15.5 sacks last season, and 28 total during his time as a Patriot.
Judon has embraced the culture, and has emerged as a force not only on the field, but in the locker room.
While he still has two years left on his deal, Judon, who turns 31 next month, wouldn’t mind extending beyond that time.
But with training camp set to start Wednesday, and reporting day Tuesday for all veterans, Judon will be putting his glass-blowing hobby aside and ramp it up for the season.
“When you come out there, just know that you’re there,” Judon told WBZ. “You’re not on vacation no more. You are on the field and aware and conscious of which is which, what is being asked of you and what needs to be done.
“Everyone has to be aware of the playbook, their assignments, and be ready.”
