Do you know someone who is a Black leader in Massachusetts? We want to hear from you.
Black History Month is in February and MassLive is looking for reader nominations for our ongoing Massachusetts leader series to highlight.
Black History Month began as “Negro History Week” in 1925, established by historian Carter G. Woodson and an organization he founded called the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. Initially celebrated during a week in February that encompassed the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, the recognition expanded to a full month in 1976.
MassLive began its Massachusetts leaders series in 2023 to showcase individuals making a difference across the state. Leaders in the Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, Asian and Pacific Islander, and LGBTQ+ communities have been highlighted.
MassLive will publish profiles of the Black leaders during Black History Month, and we want to hear from you on who we should talk to.
Please nominate individuals by filling out the form at this link or in the embedded form below, and please be sure to include contact information for how we can reach teh person.
Thank you for your help!
