Mass. woman sentenced for leaving scene of crash that killed 43-year-old in 2019

A 43-year-old woman was sentenced to six to eight years in prison on Thursday after a jury found her guilty on two charges connected to the death of a jogger in 2019, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office.

At sentencing Thursday, the woman, Kristina Blackmore, was also ordered to serve three years probation following her prison sentence, Cruz’s office wrote in a post on X. When she is released, Blackmore cannot hold a driver’s license, must complete 150 hours of community service, pay a $4,000 fine and restrict her travel, Cruz’s office said.

Blackmore was convicted of one count each of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and leaving the scene of injury causing death after three days of jury deliberations on Wednesday, Cruz’s office wrote in a prior statement.

On June 9, 2019, around 6:37 p.m., Duxbury Police went to 641 Washington St., where they found 46-year-old Andrea Gordon unresponsive on the ground, according to the statement. First responders performed life-saving measures on Gordon, who was taken to South Shore Hospital. She died of her injuries two days later.

Investigators later determined that the vehicle that hit Gordon was a Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was later found with damage at a Duxbury home, according to Cruz’s office. At that point, Massachusetts State Police arrested Blackmore.

Cruz wrote that he hopes Blackmore uses her prison time to “reflect on all her actions on that fateful day and how things could have turned out very differently for all involved.”

“Our thoughts today are with the family members of the victim in this case, 46-year-old Andrea Gordon,” Cruz said in the statement.
