
The high winds that rampaged through the state overnight and into Friday morning have dissipated, but temperatures will drop back below freezing as the night goes on.
Winds have calmed to 6 to 10 mph in Boston, with some gusts above 20 mph, and that is expected to continue through Friday night. A low of 24 degrees is forecast for the city, rebounding to the upper-30s by Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, Worcester will see a low temperature of 23 degrees overnight, accompanied by gentle 10-mph winds. The western part of the state will be significantly chillier, with lows around 15 degrees in Pittsfield.
Saturday will bring some sunshine for most of the state, until snow begins falling in the afternoon. The flakes should continue through the night and into Sunday, while temperatures range in the 20s throughout the state.
The snow should clear up by Sunday night, with a sunny Monday seeing temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s for most of Massachusetts.
