Mass. weather: Strong thunderstorms possible Wednesday

Strong thunderstorms are possible in Massachusetts on Wednesday, including damaging wind.

The entire state is under a marginal risk of severe weather as of Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service warned the thunderstorms are more likely in the late afternoon into the evening.

“A few thunderstorms could be strong with the greatest threats being gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall,” the weather service wrote.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Berkshires.

Rain isn’t expected in the Berkshires, Springfield area or Worcester until 5 or 6 p.m. Wednesday. Boston isn’t expected to get rain until closer to 7 p.m. And Cape Cod likely won’t see rain until 9 p.m.

Rain could continue into Thursday morning, the weather service warned.

Another round of rain, including a possible thunderstorm, is expected over the weekend.
