Commuting Monday night and Tuesday morning could be difficult as roads might be slippery.
A winter weather advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday due to the ice. It impacts multiple Western and Central Massachusetts cities, including Barre, Fitchburg, Ayer, Chesterfield and Charlemont.
Mixed precipitation is expected in these areas with snow accumulations up to an inch and a “light glaze” of ice, the National Weather Service reported.
“Slow down and use caution while traveling,” the weather service said, adding that people should plan on slippery road conditions during this time.
More rain is expected Tuesday night and all day Wednesday, the weather service predicted.
