Some Massachusetts residents are waking up on Christmas Eve to snowfall, while others will only be getting rain Tuesday.
Steady light snow is expected to move from west to east during the morning. The National Weather Service doesn’t expect much accumulation but it “will reduce visibility.”
The Berkshires and Springfield area are expected is get snow until about 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Snow could last until about 11 a.m. in Central and eastern Massachusetts.
Cape Cod and the islands are only expected to get rain. Rain could last until about 2 p.m., the National Weather Service predicted.
The biggest concern is travel for the holidays.
The weather could cause “slippery travel
conditions this morning,” the National Weather Service warned, issuing a hazardous weather outlook for the Berkshires.
The weather service suggested keeping an eye on weather conditions, winterize your car and share your travel plans with friends and family.
