Mass. weather: Heat indexes in the 100s predicted this week

Massachusetts residents will want to enjoy the outdoors on Sunday while the heat is still tolerable, as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all expected to be scorchers.

The National Weather Service is predicting a sunny day with highs in the low 90s for most of the state on Sunday. But later in the week, many Massachusetts cities will experience heat indexes in the 100s — as high as 106 degrees.

There is an excessive heat watch and heat advisory in effect for much of Massachusetts on Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents are advised to stay indoors, out of the sun, in air-conditioned spaces and to check on vulnerable neighbors and family.
