A Massachusetts man who won a $2.5 million grand prize from a $10 scratch ticket game will receive his winnings over the next two decades.
Kirk Phinney, of Leominster, won $2.5 million from the “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” game.
Phinney chose the annuity option on his prize when he claimed his winning ticket on Jan. 10. He received the first of 20 annual payments of $125,000 before taxes.
He told the lottery he plans to travel and buy a new car with his winnings.
Phinney bought his winning ticket at Quick Stop Liquor, which is located in his hometown at 531 N Main St. The store will receive a $25,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
