Mass. man suspected of taking pictures up 11-year-old girl’s skirt, DA says

A Dorchester man appeared in a Boston courthouse on Monday after he was charged in connection with taking an “upskirt” photo of an 11-year-old girl in June, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden’s office announced.

Agustin Jaramillo, 28, was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, Hayden’s office said in a statement released Tuesday. Judge Thomas Kaplanes ordered Jaramillo be held on $500 bail.

He is expected to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on Sept. 24.

Boston police arrived at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester on June 6, Hayden’s office said. The officers met with a student, the 11-year-old girl, who told school staff that a man approached her while she was walking to the bus stop that morning.

Jaramillo gave her a cord and asked her to help him tie a knot, Hayden’s office said. Jaramillo then bent down and said he would pull up her sock before he used his cell phone to take a picture up her skirt and rubbed his hand against her leg.

After investigators saw a man matching the girl’s description of Jaramillo, they received a tip on Facebook Messenger that identified him as Jaramillo on June 27, Hayden’s office said. Two days later, an arrest warrant was issued.

“This young girl deserves great credit for relaying to school officials what happened to her that morning,” Hayden said in his statement. “That information, along with valuable assistance from a community member, helped police make an identification and arrest. This is yet another example of the community working with law enforcement to increase safety for all.”
