Mass. man put money down teen girl’s shirt at carnival, police say

A 54-year-old man was arrested outside Dartmouth Mall on Saturday night after police say he followed and later assaulted a teen girl.

Jeffrey Lehman, of Fall River, is charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 or over and accosting/annoying another person, Dartmouth police wrote in a Facebook post Monday.

Dartmouth police working a detail at the carnival outside the mall were alerted to a disturbance at the carnival around 10:08 p.m. on Saturday, police said. Police say Lehmen followed a girl and her friend “for a period of time” before approaching the girl and beginning to assault her. Leham is accused of making inappropriate comments and placing money down her shirt.

When other attendees at the carnival learned of the assault they formed a barrier between Lehman and the teen girl. Lehman was then taken into police custody.
