
A 32-year-old Townsend man is facing multiple charges in connection with a fatal double shooting in Fitchburg Sunday night.
Jarrod Hegarty is being charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm without an FID card.
At about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, two people were shot near 360 Main St. in Fitchburg, according to the Worcester County District Attorney‘s office. One person was pronounced dead at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance — Leominster Campus. The second person was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He is in critical, but stable condition, the district attorney’s office said.
