Mass. man arrested in connection with firing gun during argument outside McDonald’s

A Tewksbury man is facing charges in connection with firing a gun during an argument outside of a town McDonald’s Thursday night, according to police.

Craig Collins, 38, has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and one count of disorderly conduct, Tewksbury police said in a press release.

On July 3, officers were called to the area of 1928 Main St. around 11 p.m. for a report of gunfire, police said. No injuries or property damage was reported to them, but they found two shell casings at the scene.

Investigators determined that a suspect fired two shots during an argument with other individuals outside the McDonald’s on Main Street, police said. Collins was soon identified as the suspect and arrested at his home without incident.

Officers recovered a loaded firearm as part of the investigation, police said. Collins had a license to carry at the time of the incident, but it was revoked upon his arrest.

Collins is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court, police said. Authorities are still investigating the incident, and no further information has been released.
