A 25-year-old man is facing gun and drug charges after he was arrested at a party in Roxbury Saturday night where a large group of more than 30 people were fistfighting, police said.
Joshua Carvahlo, of Foxborough, is charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, defacing serial number of a firearm, firearm possession with one prior violent and/or drug crime, and possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, Boston Police said in a statement.
A large group of more than 30 people fistfighting at 60 Annunciation Road in Roxbury was reported to Boston police around 11:16 p.m. on Saturday, the department said in the statement. When officers arrived, they found a “very large group” of people drinking and congregating.
Police saw a man wearing all black, who they say was identified as Carvalho, separate himself from the group and walk behind a parked car, according to the statement. Officers saw the same man bend over under the vehicle before he stood back up and walked towards the group.
Officers then walked behind the car, where they found a gun inside a sock, according to the statement. The gun had a metallic feeding device, with six rounds of ammunition inside, attached to it and its serial number had been “obliterated,” according to police.
As police booked Carvalho, they say they found a large bag containing roughly 14 grams of crack cocaine on his person.
Carvalho is set to be arraigned in the Roxbury division of Boston Municipal Court, police said.
