Mass. federal worker was fired, then reinstated. Now he’s looking for a more stable job

On Valentine’s Day, National Park Service Historian Brian Whetstone was fired from his position, along with more than 24,000 other federal employees who were terminated over the course of a few days.

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old Dunstable resident — who is in the middle of his first “trial” year at the History, Architecture, Conservation, and Engineering Center (HACE) in Lowell — returned to the workplace he’d been unceremoniously ousted from just six weeks prior.
