Mass. church receives bomb threat in ‘swatting’ incident, police say

A call, later determined to be a swatting incident, claimed there were multiple bombs placed at the First Congregational Church of Hanover Monday afternoon, according to Hanover Police Department and the church’s pastor.

The Hanover Police Department and Hanover Fire Department responded to the call at 1:37 p.m. The Rev. Peter Johnston said in a Facebook post that the caller claimed that bombs had been placed in the education building and the meeting house of First Congregational Church of Hanover.

“The police, including bomb sniffing dogs swept both buildings, and found them secure and free of incendiary devices,” Johnston wrote.
