Man’s $10K bribe attempt failed — Worcester police found 650 bags of fentanyl, officials say

A 60-year-old man tried to offer Worcester police officers $10,000 cash if they would leave before the officers said they found drugs, hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and stolen car parts during a search of an apartment he was in on Friday.

Police were surveying an apartment on Vale Street they had a search warrant for on March 21, according to the Worcester Police Department. During their surveillance, they saw several lights on in the apartment.

When officers approached the apartment around 7 a.m. and entered the building, they found Michael Hoose Sr., 60, — the target of the search warrant — Michael Hoose Jr., Felicia Durphy and Nicholas Trotta, the department said.

The 60-year-old said that he’d give the police an envelope with $10,000 inside if they would just go away, the department said.

When police searched the apartment, they found roughly 650 bags of fentanyl totaling about 150 grams, packaging materials, scales, ammunition and $226,430 in cash, the department said. Several suspected stolen catalytic convertors were also found.

Michael Hoose Sr. was charged with trafficking in a Class A substance (fentanyl) 100-199 grams, possession of ammunition without FID, receiving stolen property over $1,200, bribery and intimidation of a witness, the department said.

Michael Hoose Jr. was charged with trafficking Class A (fentanyl) 100-199, possession of ammunition without FID, and receiving stolen property over $1,200, the department said.

Durfee was charged with trafficking Class A (Fentanyl) 100-199.

Trotta was also arrested in connection with having several outstanding warrants, the department said.
