Man wanted for auto theft, holdup, car chase turns self in to traffic officer

SOUTHWICK — A man wanted by police for stealing a car in Springfield and robbing a store in Southwick on Saturday was arrested Monday afternoon in Northampton. after walking up to a police officer working a traffic detail and turning himself in.

“He said he was tired and cold and tired of running from police,” said Southwick Detective Sgt. Thomas Krutka. “We kept the pressure on, and it worked.”

Southwick Police charged Miguel Alicea, 50, of Springfield, with armed robbery, threatening to commit a crime (murder), and larceny from a building, stemming from an Oct. 12 incident at Scibelli’s Mobil on College Highway.
